Articles About My 2018 “K2xx” Chevy Suburban
I think it’s because of COVID19 that people are thinking much more about long-distance road trips to places now, rather than flying, as a number have asked me about my Suburban lately. It makes sense. We’re doing it too, drove down to Orlando from the DC area in December before COVID, and are planning a road trip out to the Midwest this Summer, 2020. In addition to all of the space, with 8000 lbs of towing capacity you also have the option of towing a decent sized travel trailer for your cross-country needs with one of these beasts, which allows you to completely avoid hotels. Believe me we’ve thought about it, but my wife just isn’t that kind of lady!
My 2018 Suburban currently has 22,500 miles on it, and still no regrets. Its latest cost save has been the ability to haul 3+ mountain bikes in the back locked and stowed securely inside, while still having plenty of room for 4 adults and a dog in the first two rows of seating. I’m going to be able to get away with not buying a 4-place bike rack now, which would have been $500-700 or more! A Traverse definitely couldn’t do this. So the Suburban has once again paid for its excess fuel bill for the year vs. the Traverse that I might have gotten. And considering I’m working from home and barely driving these days, the excess fuel bill is non-existent. The Suburban truly is the original and ultimate SUV. We love ours!

UPDATE WINTER 2023: 75,000 miles and still haven’t had time to write a long-term review. We love it, though. Just got back from our sixth road trip to Florida over the holidays.
