Physical Fitness
A relentless dedication and focus on achieving the best physical fitness that I could after cancer changed my life for the better. In my initial few years after cancer, so many people thought that I "looked great", but only I could feel every single muscle in my body burning and aching most every single day, and only I could feel how badly I was struggling just to find the energy to get through each day. I was still only in my mid-30's, and I had two young children at home to keep up with. I felt decades older than I was physically, and just refused to accept that I was going to have to live the rest of my life feeling as terrible as I had been.
Taking up running and a commitment to exercise changed everything, and is the single best thing that I did for myself after cancer. Running From Cancer is far more than a physical journey, it was an emotional and spiritual one as well.
Just because you suffer from post-cancer neuropathy and chronic fatigue issues, doesn’t mean you can’t push yourself and get out there and kick some ass. You’re looking at a guy who just a few years ago struggled to run more than 2-3 blocks at a time because of terrible chronic fatigue issues, now coasting into the finish line in 30 minutes in a 5K race, and feeling great while doing it!
